Science is one of the most exciting and practical primary curriculum subjects. In Strawberry Hill N.S. children love getting the chance to learn through being totally hands-on and finding things out for themselves-the perfect way to understand the world around them. They work scientifically to develop skills and to design and make through the strands of Living Things, Energy and Forces, Materials and Environmental Awareness and Care. We are especially proud of our involvement in VEX Robotics. It comprises of children from 5th and 6th class. They spend months working on particular challenges and then enter teams to represent the school at the regional and national finals in M.T.U. The children must brainstorm, design, build and rebuild robots that are able to pick up cubes and place them in the scoring goals. In the challenge, the robots are driven but must also work autonomously. The school also takes part in Science Week, Science Blast, Discovery Primary Science and much more throughout the school year.
