In Strawberry Hill we aim for pupils to become curious about the world around them through the areas of History and Geography. They explore how changes affect our current world. This develops an ever broadening and coherent understanding of both subjects.

In History, we enable pupils to develop a well-rounded knowledge of the past and its events, with the intention to improve every pupils’ understanding of the world around them as well as their own heritage. We develop a broad base of historical stories which include Irish myths and legends as well as local history knowledge. Children explore how people in the past lived and how their experiences have shaped our modern world.

In Geography lessons, we encourage in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. We teach them to observe and explore the world around them, understand how our actions impact our planet and how we strive to protect the environment for the future. The pupils learn to investigate plant and animal life as well as developing skills such as mapwork.
