Strawberry Hill works hard to promote Gaeilge throughout the school. The children are encouraged to use as much gaeilge neamhfhoirmiúil as possible e.g. ‘go raibh maith agat’ and ‘slán leat’ during the school day. We also continue to implement a range of initiatives such as:

  • Frasaí na seachtaine. Children learn a new phrase each week. They are encouraged to practice saying their new phrases and previously learned phrases throughout the week.
  • Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine. A certificate is awarded to the children who try their best at engaging with the Irish language. These certificates celebrate Irish speaking skills, and encourages your children to practice their oral language skills.
  • Seachtain na Gaeilge takes place in March each year. This is a chance for us as a school to celebrate our culture and heritage, as well as enjoying using our cupla focail! Fun activities are organised for all class levels.
